Structural Precast Case Studies

Burlington Water Treatment Plant Expansion
Burlington, Ontario

Pre-Con was required to efficiently and economically design, manufacture and erect a Precast Double Tee Roof with unusually long spans supporting 5 monorail systems.

The monorail was attached locally to the underside of specific roof Double Tee’s, thereby requiring these precast units to have a more substantial section and reinforcing requirements. The Pre-Con’s engineering team had to design these different precast roof elements to have similar camber characteristics for proper alignment when placed at site.

Pre-Con’s in-house engineering team developed a new Double Tee section. The new design and component layout minimized the differential camber issue, and was able to accommodate the superimposed heavy loads.
